Some things are worth doing, for science. That’s exactly what the folks at TechRax decided to do, when they lit a gold iPhone 5s on fire using gasoline. If that wasn’t all they added more fuel to the fire, literally, by spraying flammable body spray. The experiment resulted in the obvious conclusion that the iPhone 5s isn’t fireproof, but you probably already knew that. The idea was to see if the iPhone 5s could withstand fire and still provide watchable video, but the experiment makes it clear that it can’t.
We’ve seen people do all kinds of different experiments with products that are particularly popular, such as the iPhone 5s. There’s your average drop test, and then some people decide to bring out the big guns, quite literally, and fire shots at the smartphone. We’ve all seen that happen before. In this particular video, the iPhone 5s is doused with gasoline and set on fire. After the flames are stoked with the body spray, the iPhone 5s gets the water bucket treatment. In the end, as it becomes obvious that the smartphone can not provide a video clip, it takes a hammer swing to finish things off, all in the name of science.
