Last month we started hearing rumors that Verizon is going to launch its very own affordable 7 inch tablet soon. It did indeed, last week, Verizon launched the Ellipsis 7 tablet. The tablet is actually part of a new lineup of devices called Ellipsis, though the carrier has not clarified exactly which type of devices will be offered under the Ellipsis brand in the future, apart from the 7 inch tablet. Specifications of this tablet have finally been revealed on Verizon’s website, its pretty much what you’d expect from a tablet in this price range.

The Verizon Ellipsis 7 tablet has a 1,280×800 LCD 7 inch display, a 1.2GHz quadcore processor from an undisclosed manufacturer, 1GB RAM, 8GB of onboard storage with the option for external expansion via microSD cards, a 4,000mAh battery and a 3.2 megapixel rear camera. It is compatible with Verizon’s 4G LTE network. The tablet is powered by a near vanilla Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, so Verizon might not have slapped a custom skin on top but it will definitely install a lot of third-party applications, including but not limited to RedBox, Amazon, iHeartRadio and other apps. The Verizon Ellipsis 7 tablet is available for sale online and in the carrier’s retail stores, off contract it costs $250. With a two year contract, the tablet’s price goes down to $149.99.
