Verizon Launches Moto G On Prepaid In Q1, 2014

Earlier today Motorola finally unveiled the Moto G smartphone. Its a mid-range Android device that has a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor and a 4.5 inch HD display. Motorola has competitively priced the Moto G, offering the 8GB variant for $179 off contract. The 16GB model will be available for $199, SIM-free. Verizon has confirmed that it will carry the device for its prepaid customers. The carrier announced via Twitter that it will have the Moto G available for prepaid customers in Q1, 2014. That’s quite a vague timeframe, but one that rests between the first few months of next year.

Motorola has launched the device already in Brazil and the U.K. The Moto G will be available in Canada and additional regions in Europe in the coming weeks. U.S. and India are slated to receive it early next year. Even Motorola has not provided a concrete release date for the Moto G in the U.S. Moto G will run Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out of the box, but the company says that Android 4.4 KitKat will be rolled out for it in the first few months of 2014. Customers looking to switch to Verizon without having to sign a contract will have an enticing option in the shape of the Moto G, which will be a relatively affordable prepaid option.
