The CyanogenMod team develops one of the world’s most widely used Android custom ROMs, and the team has now started to roll out CyanogenMod 11 Android 4.4 KitKat nightly builds for a wide variety of devices. While the nightly builds will let you experience all that KitKat has to offer, there one downside. These custom ROMs are not stable and are far from finished, so its likely that users might encounter quite a few builds. It might not be a very good idea if you plan on using the nightly builds as your daily drivers.

The CyanogenMod 11 Android 4.4 nightly builds starting rolling out yesterday, Nexus 4, 5, 7 and 10 all received their builds yesterday. A list of upcoming nightly builds has already been posted online by the CyanogenMod team. Dozens of devices have made it to the list, including multiple variants of the HTC One, Galaxy S3 and the LG G2. So even if the OEM of your Android smartphone hasn’t released the Android 4.4 KitKat update as yet, you can get a taste of Google’s latest mobile OS update through the CyanogenMod 11 custom ROMs. Before flashing a custom ROM ensure that you have created a backup of your data, and ensure that there’s enough juice in the battery to last through the process of ROM flashing.
