It can be said without a doubt that the Samsung Galaxy S3 is a very popular and successful smartphone. The device sold millions of units around the world, and it greatly helped increase Samsung’s market share in the U.S. As per Chitika’s latest statistics, Galaxy S3 is actually the most popular Samsung smartphone in the country, accounting for over 33.9 percent of mobile web traffic generated by the company’s devices in December.

The existing flagship Galaxy S model, the S4, trails in second place. It generated 23.8 percent of all mobile web traffic by Samsung devices, Galaxy S2 came in with 8.4 percent and even the original Galaxy S made its way on the list with 1.9 percent. Safe to say that Samsung has a solid smartphone presence in the U.S. It is interesting to note that the Galaxy Note phablets aren’t as popular in the country as they are back in Korea. All three Galaxy Note devices jointly account for 13.3 percent. The statistics also reveal that Samsung’s 10.1 inch tablets are more popular in the U.S., driving 53 percent of mobile web traffic from Samsung tablets, 7-inch tablets trail in second place with 40.3 percent. These figures reveal the sheer number of Galaxy S3 owners in the U.S., who are likely to upgrade once their two-year service contracts are up. So its imperative for Samsung to make sure that Galaxy S5 is right on the money, it wouldn’t want to miss out on a large number of existing customers who will soon be shopping for a new smartphone.
