Minecraft Movie Worked On By Warner Brothers

minecraft-35millionGood news Minecraft fans! It seems that apart from invading a variety of platforms, the ever-popular Minecraft title will be made into a movie! This was confirmed by Minecraft’s creator himself, Markus “Notch” Persson on his Twitter account after there were rumors making their way around the a movie was being made.

According to Persson, “Someone is trying leak the fact that we’re working with Warner Brothers on a potential Minecraft Movie. I wanted to be the leak!” However it should be noted that just because a movie is in development doesn’t necessarily mean that it will result in an actual film.

We can’t remember how many times movies have been cancelled and canned due to the story not working out, or because it wasn’t headed in the right direction. So while a Minecraft movie is definitely something worth looking forward to, try not to get overly excited yet.

However it will be interesting to see how they will be able to make a movie out of it. Minecraft is a survival-type game and there is no true ending, nor is there an overlying plot/story to it. So if a movie were to be made, perhaps the story will be completely original but borrow some Minecraft elements to put into it.

Then there’s the issue where movies based on video games tend to turn out pretty bad. Anyone remember titles like Alone in the Dark and Doom? Then again the upcoming Need For Speed movie with Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul does look pretty promising, but we’ll have to wait and see how that turns out.

What do you guys think? How will a Minecraft movie play out?
