Microsoft Kinect For Windows Hardware Version 2 Unveiled

kinect-for-windows2In your gaming experience with the Microsoft Kinect for Windows so far, how do you feel about it? Do you think that the Kinect has a way of influencing the future direction of gaming in the living room, or will Facebook’s Oculus VR be able to have more of a say? Time will tell, but what we do know is this – Microsoft has just unveiled the second version of their Kinect for Windows sensor, where what you see above is a rough sample of the final hardware.

What is shown happens to be the second version of its Kinect for Windows sensor, where it will be accompanied by a hub as well as personal power supply. It is not surprising to see that the second-generation Kinect for Windows sensor happens to share a very close resemblance to the Kinect for Xbox One, although it does come with the word “Kinect” on the top panel, while there is a Xbox stylized green “x” that functions as a “simple, more understated power indicator”.

It will boast of USB 3.0 connectivity in the hub, which also accepts sensor and power connections, too. The power supply supports voltages from 100 to 240 volts, and it remains to be seen as to when the second generation Kinect for Windows will be released officially, although summer 2014 would not be such a bad time after all.
