There are still a lot of users out there who are still using Windows XP. Microsoft has been trying very hard to get them to update. The company is going to kill support for one of its most popular iterations on April 8th. This means that Windows XP will no longer receive security updates or patches, customers’ devices will be vulnerable to threats. In a bid to get hold-outs to upgrade, Microsoft is offering a $100 discount on several Windows 8.1 devices through the Microsoft Store.

Customers can avail the discount online or in person at a physical Microsoft Store in the U.S., they’ll have to present a Windows XP device during purchase to get the discount. The deal runs from March 20th to June 15th, so it will be available long after Windows XP support bites the dust.

Apart from the discount, customers will also receive “premium” sales, chat and phone support. They will also get free Laplink data transfer service, the software is capable of automatically transferring data from a Windows XP PC to one powered by Windows 8.1.

There are a handful of devices available through the Microsoft Store that run on Windows 8.1. Customers can opt for the company’s own Surface 2 tablets, Dell’s XPS lineup, HP All-In-Ones, Asus Transformer Book, the Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga and others. The only caveat attached with this discount is that the device customers opt for much be priced over $599. No discount is being offered for devices that cost below that.
