Sony To Make The Last Of Us Movie A Reality

The-Last-of-Us-three-minute-gameplay-videoRemember back in late 2013 where Sony registered a domain for “thelastofusmovie.net”? It led to speculation that Sony might be interested in turning the game into an actual movie, which would not be a bad idea since the game does have a pretty good storyline to begin with.

Well the good news is that if you were really hoping for a The Last Of Us movie, you’d be pleased to learn that a report from Deadline Hollywood has revealed that a movie will indeed be happening. This is thanks to a deal that Sony Picture’s Screen Gems has signed with Naughty Dog which will see Neil Druckmann, the Creative Director for the game, pen the script for the movie as well.

There will be additional “creative architects” who will come in the form of Naughty Dog’s co-presidents, Evan Wells and Christophe Balestra, as well as Game Director Bruce Straley.

According to Naughty Dog’s co-president, Evan Wells, “Since our game released last June, we’ve talked with many companies about making a film, but we couldn’t have found better partners who share our creative vision and high standards.”

It has also been revealed that Sam Raimi, director of movies like Spider-Man (before the reboot) will be the one in charge of producing the movie for Sony. No word on when Sony plans on releasing the film, but we guess fans will be happy to learn that at least something is being worked on. We have to wonder who they will cast though, Ellen Page anyone?
