Android 4.4.3 For Nexus 5 Release Expected Today

Sprint-sign

Over the past few weeks we have been hearing that work on Android 4.4.3 has been underway. Google was said to be dogfooding the update just last week. Sprint updated its support page today to indicate that a new over-the-air update is going to be rolled out shortly. It is understood that this is Android 4.4.3 for Nexus 5. While it may be Sprint-specific, its highly likely that Android 4.4.3 will be released for the Nexus 5 in general later today.

There haven’t been a whole bunch of rumors about Android 4.4.3. There’s a reason for that. Its meant to be an incremental update, which means that it won’t bring anything else than bug fixes, security and stability improvements. If Sprint releases the OTA update today then it would only be a matter of time before download links become available for manual update.

There would be a Sprint-specific tweak in the update. The support page indicates that this update brings support for Sprint Spark. Nexus 5 already has support for tri-band LTE, its up to carriers to enable the feature. Sprint’s support page shows that Sprint Spark band 26 and band 41 will be activated by this update.

Even though it may be an incremental update, its possible that Sprint may release it stages. This means that the update can take some time before it pops up on your Nexus 5.
