Bungie Explains Why Destiny Is Not Arriving For The PC Anytime Soon

destinyWith Halo being one of the more iconic franchises for the console, many have high expectations for the folks at Bungie who are currently working on their next franchise, Destiny. The game isn’t scheduled for release yet but as it stands, the game will only be seeing a release for consoles and will not be released for the PC.

This is understandably upsetting as we’re sure many gamers are looking forward to playing the game on their PC. Bungie has since come forward and offered up an explanation as to why they will not be releasing a PC version of Destiny, at least not anytime soon.

According to the design lead, Lars Bakken, “The console SKUs are really important for us and that’s what we’re focusing on. We’re doing it all internally ourselves. That’s a huge endeavour. That’s not something we’ve ever done before. So when I’m playtesting and I’m trying to play PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PS3, that’s a lot of work. Adding another thing on there is just crazy. It’s crazy to think of right now.”

This sentiment was shared by Bungie’s COO, Pete Parsons, who felt that developing for four consoles was a huge task, especially considering that they only developed for one platform with the Halo franchise. Unfortunately due to the intricacies of the game and the world which extends to multiple platforms, it’s not as simple as creating a PC version at a later date.

However Parsons did not close the door completely and did state that at some point in the future they might revisit the topic about Destiny for the PC, but for now if you wanted to play the game, you’d probably have to go get yourself a console.
