Bungie recently confirmed that Destiny 2 will be available from Google Stadia, the company’s online game streaming service which will enable users to stream console-quality games on smartphones and even Chromebooks. All that’s required is a decent internet connection and a subscription to Stadia. Bungie has now revealed that Destiny 2 players on Stadia will initially be able to play against other Destiny 2 players on Stadia.

Bungie mentions in a FAQ page on its website that cross-play will not be possible with other platforms. It points out that Stadia is its own ecosystem just like the platforms that currently exist. Thus, Stadia players will only be able to play Destiny 2 with others who are also playing the game using Stadia.

Destiny general manager Mike Noseworthy later said that Bungie would love to bring cross-play to Destiny 2 and that there’s no policy or technological barrier standing in the way of that, including of enabling Stadia cross-play with PC for the title. However, Bungie is focused on delivering cross save to all platforms this year for Destiny 2, he says.

It has already been confirmed that Destiny 2 will feature cross-save on all platforms, PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia. It will let players access the same character and progression across these different platforms.
