Bethesda Confirms The Elder Scrolls Online Delay, Offers Compensation

Console_change_date_headerNow you might recall that earlier today we reported that according to a FAQ spotted on Bethesda’s website, before it was promptly taken down, it revealed that The Elder Scrolls Online game for consoles had been delayed by as much as six months. It was also reported that Bethesda went around deleting forum posts and banning users who linked back to the FAQ, leaving us to wonder what was going on.

Well Bethesda has since come forward and acknowledged that the game had indeed been delayed. The company confirmed this on their blog and have attributed the delay to a variety of technical issues arising from either platform which has contributed to the delay of the game for the console.

“We continue to work on the console versions of ESO, and game development has been progressing steadily, but we are still working to solve a series of unique problems specific to those platforms. Integrating our systems with each console manufacturer’s networks — which are both different from the PC/Mac system as well as different from each other—has been a challenging process.”

Now the good news is that Bethesda wants to make it up to their fans and gamers who have been looking forward to the game’s release in June. The company announced that those who have bought the PC/Mac version of the game before June will be able to transfer their characters onto the console version upon its release.

What this means is that gamers will be able to pick up where they left off and start enjoying the game right away. This does involve gamers having to buy another copy of the game, but Bethesda has a deal for gamers that involves them topping up an additional $20 to get the full digital version of the game on either the PS4 or the Xbox One.

Yes, we know that delays suck but at least Bethesda is doing something about it. Specific launch dates for the console version of The Elder Scrolls Online still remains unconfirmed, but hopefully we will get additional details later.
