LG G3 Official Specifications And Features Announced

The endless string of rumors finally comes to an end today. At an event today LG announced its 2014 flagship smartphone, the LG G3. We have already heard a lot about its specifications and features but now everything has come in from the company itself so you can be absolutely sure about all of the details.

First and foremost we have to turn our attention to the big and beautiful “2K” display. The LG G3 has a 5.5-inch 2,560×1,440 pixel resolution display with a pixel density of 538ppi. This truly sets the smartphone apart from the flagships that its rivals, namely Samsung and HTC, have already released.

Under the hood you’ll find a quadcore Snapdragon 801 processor from Qualcomm that’s coupled with up to 2GB of RAM as well as 32GB of onboard storage. On the back there’s a 13 megapixel camera aided by enhanced optical image stabilization and a new laser autofocus system. A 2.1 megapixel front camera with wider aperture and gesture detection should fulfill all your selfie-taking needs. MicroSD card slot, Android 4.4 KitKat and a 3,000mAh battery are all present on the LG G3.

LG’s latest flagship has a lightweight design which gives the look of brushed metal but is still very much plastic at heart. It certainly makes the display look like the star of the show, in fact, it occupies almost 77 percent of the device’s footprint. The company has opted for really slim bezels, a trend that it has stuck to for a few flagships now.

LG has also made some tweaks to the Android UI and developed a new service called Smart Notice that works a lot like Google Now. It can set reminders, make recommendations and even tell you to uninstall apps that you rarely use.

The LG G3 will be available in Metallic Black, Silk White, Moon Violet, Burgundy Red and Shine Gold from more than 170 carriers around the globe. Customers in South Korea will be able to pick one up today while the rest of the world will have to wait a bit.

Our coverage of the LG G3 doesn’t end here though. The company has just made the announcement and in a few moments we’ll have a detailed LG G3 hands-on review up on the site. Stay tuned!
