Last year Samsung introduced Knox, an end-to-end secure platform designed to provide advanced data and privacy protection to enterprise users. The platform makes it easier for IT departments to bring in Samsung’s devices in the workplace if they’re on a Bring Your Own Device strategy. Users are free to use a single device for business and personal use without worrying about data mixing up between the two. Today the company announced global availability of Knox 2.0 for the Galaxy S5.

Samsung has rebranded the original product launched last year. The secure platform and app container are now collectively known as Knox Workspace. The latest update brings core security enhancements such as two-factor biometric authentication, real-time protection for system integrity and more.

The overall user experience has also been improved in Knox Workspace. Knox’s app container lets users access all apps available on the Google Play Store, thus eliminating the need for app wrapping process for third party applications. The Split-Billing feature works with carriers to calculate bills for personal-use and professional-use apps separately.

Knox 2.0 or Knox Workspace is only available for the Galaxy S5 right now. Samsung says that other Galaxy devices will receive it as well over the coming months through OS updates.
