Sony SmartBand Activity Tracker Now On Sale

sony-smartbandYou know what they say – better late than never, but when it comes to the fast paced world of technology, it might be better to be early or at least on time. After all, you can never quite tell just what your rivals are up to, and to roll out a particular product before the rest of the pack does give you considerable first mover advantage. Having first being announced at CES earlier this year, the Sony SmartBand has finally made its presence felt in the US for $99 a pop via Sony’s online store.

This waterproof device will boast of a feature set that is a wee bit ahead of the curve when compared to the Jawbone UP24 as well as FitBit Flex, and only those who happen to dance to the Android mobile operating system need to check it out. Sony continues to maintain the fact that the Sony SmartBand falls under the category of that of a life tracker, which means it is not meant to be an activity tracker.

The line is pretty thin, that is for sure, as most folks would not really take such semantics into consideration. After all, the Sony SmartBand does the works including counting the number of steps that you have taken throughout the day, sleep activity and others via the Android app, all the while leaving room to maneuver with weather, photos, music and personal notes. Apart from that, it is capable of alerting the wearer whenever there is an incoming text message or phone call via vibration.
