Apple’s E-Wallet Could See Fall Debut

iphone6-dummy-colorsThe iPhone 6 has been slated for a September announcement according to the latest round of rumors, and along with that, we could also see the possible release of a new mobile payment system that will enable iPhone owners to pay for their purchases instead of relying on cold, hard cash or a credit card. The Information cites sources that claim to have insider information that Apple is currently negotiating with partner companies to introduce an e-wallet system which will rival Google Wallet later this fall.

Should this particular deal be hammered out with credit card company Visa, it does look as if it has the potential to change the way that consumers make purchases – especially when one should never discount the number of people who look set to pick up an iPhone 6 the moment it is announced. In a nutshell, a direct partnership with Visa (or any other similar company for that matter) would play a large role in bypassing the payment processing chain, which would help both merchants and customers save money.

It remains to be seen whether this e-wallet system is going to be integrated with NFC technology, or will it liaise instead with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections. What do you think?
