Samsung Galaxy Alpha Could See 13th August Launch Instead [Rumor]

An earlier report had suggested that the Samsung Galaxy Alpha could be pegged for a launch on the 4th of August, but according to a report from AllAboutSamsung, they claim that the Samsung Galaxy Alpha will instead be launched on the 13th of August which will be a Wednesday two weeks from now.

This also puts the launch of the handset about 3 weeks away from IFA 2014, so perhaps Samsung will have the device on hand with them at the event for people to try out. Of course it remains to be seen if the rumors are true, but we will be keeping our eyes peeled for both the 4th of August and 13th of August just to be sure.

In the meantime for those hearing about the Galaxy Alpha for the first time, the handset appears to be a mid-range smartphone from Samsung, although it is rumored to sport a metal build. This seems to be in line with a recent statement from Samsung who confirmed that they are planning a new smartphone with new materials, which some have taken to mean metal.

In any case the rumored specs of the Galaxy Alpha includes a 4.7-inch 720p HD display, an octa-core processor using Samsung’s Exynos 5 5433 chipset, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of onboard storage, a 12MP rear-facing camera, a 2.1MP front-facing camera, and apparently the handset will turn to the use of a nano SIM, which at the moment is primarily used by the iPhone. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but check back with us in the coming weeks for the details.
