Like many companies that are fighting for online video streaming customers Amazon is also spending millions of dollars on the production of original content. The company takes a rather unique approach to its original content, it releases a handful of pilots and then lets viewers decide which ones should be picked up and turned into a series. Amazon announced today that the new TV pilots will be released on August 28th.

Amazon’s third pilot round brings the lowest number of pilots that viewers will be able to provide feedback on, just five. The previous two rounds consisted of 14 and 10 pilots of which some were turned into full series and others were hung out to dry.

Viewers will be treated to two hour-long dramatic thrillers and half-hour comedies. First up is Hand of God which comes from the director of Quantum of Solace, its about a vigilante “who has visions from God.” Hysteria is about a mysterious illness that spreads over social media.

Comedies include The Cosmopolitans which is about American expats living in modern day Paris, Red Oaks, which will take viewers on a trip to a country club in 1980’s New Jersey and last but not the least is Chicago-based Really which focuses on marriage and friendship.

The pilots can be viewed starting August 28th in the US and UK through the Amazon Instant Video app on Fire TV, Kindle Fire tablets, iOS, Roku, Xbox, PlayStation, Wii and other connected devices.
