Not too long ago it was rumored that come IFA 2014 Samsung is going to release a successor for its Galaxy Mega smartphone. A lot of information about the Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 has already been leaked online. Even though the device hasn’t been formally announced yet it appears that some retailers have already jumped the gun down in Malaysia and Thailand. Local websites are now posting reviews of the Galaxy Mega 2.

The first preview for Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 was published online by a Thailand-based website called Droid Sans. It posted several high quality pictures of the device as well, giving us our first proper look at the Galaxy Mega 5.8 and Galaxy Mega 6.3 successor.

The display size on this particular smartphone sits between its two predecessors at 6.0-inches, offering 720 x 1,280 pixel resolution. It is certainly no Android behemoth as the specifications keep it firmly in the mid-range category.

As per the preview the Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 has a 1.4GHz quadcore Exynos 4415 processor with 1.5GB RAM. There’s an 8 megapixel rear camera, a 2,800mAh battery and LTE capability. Android 4.4.4 is said to be preinstalled on the device.

We should expect a formal announcement from Samsung for the Galaxy Mega 2 nonetheless. The company will be showing off the device at IFA 2014 next month. Reportedly the Mega 2 costs $400+ in the aforementioned countries, no word as yet what its price is going to be in North America.
