Huawei Ascend Mate 7 Debuts With 6-inch Display & Fingerprint Sensor

ascend mate 7Prior to IFA 2014, Huawei was teasing us that they had a new smartphone planned, which many had speculated could be the Huawei Ascend Mate 7. In fact prior to its announcement, there were a couple of leaked photos which kind of gave away some clues as to how the handset will look like, but wonder no more as Huawei has made the Ascend Mate 7 official!

If you’re after a handset with a large display then it certainly seems like the Ascend Mate 7 could be for you. The device will sport a 6-inch display with a Full HD resolution and as you can see in the photos, the bezels on the Ascend Mate 7 are pretty thin, which hopefully should make the 6-inch display feel a bit more manageable in your hands.

Moving on, the Ascend Mate 7 will be using a SoC of Huawei’s own making in the form of the Kirin 925 which is an octa-core processor. It will be powered by four A15 cores clocked at 1.8GHz and four A7 cores clocked at 1.3GHz. Huawei also appears to have hopped on board the fingerprint bandwagon as the Ascend Mate 7 comes with a fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone.

According to Huawei, the sensor is sensitive enough where it can even detect wet fingers or when there is light rain that might have landed on the sensor. Other than that, the Ascend Mate 7 will support LTE Cat6 connectivity, a metal body, a 13MP camera with Sony’s BSI sensor and an aperture of f/2.0, a 5MP front-facing camera, and is expected to be launched later this year where it will be priced around 599 Euro.
