So while some might thank Apple for helping get the smartphone industry off the ground, not everyone is pleased by their efforts, and Finland is one them. Finland’s Prime Minister Alexander Stubb recently spoke with CNBC and it seems that he believes that it is no thanks to Apple that Finland’s economy is the way it is at the moment.
According to Prime Minister Stubb, it seems that he is partially blaming Apple for it. He was quoted as saying, “The iPhone killed Nokia, and the iPad killed the paper industry, but we’ll make a comeback.” It is true that Nokia was on a steady decline ever since smartphones were introduced, although we’re not sure if it is fair to blame Apple for everything.
After all if Nokia had been quicker to react, they could have been in a better position. Their decision to go with the Windows Phone platform was another questionable choice, especially since companies like Samsung have found great success in Android, but what do you guys think?
