Hearthstone Bot Developer Shuts Its Doors Following Ban Wave

hearthstoneAccording to a report from last week, Blizzard had dropped the banhammer on thousands of Hearthstone accounts simply for the act of botting. Blizzard has always taken a tough stance against botters and botting companies, so we guess the recent wave of bans hardly comes as a surprise.

However it seems that with the ban now in effect, it also means that the developers of the bot, Crawlerbots, are out of business. After all who would buy your product if it means getting your account banned, thus destroying any progress and achievements in the process, right? The developers have since announced their shutdown on their website.

The announcement reads, “This is our last official announcement. The recent ban wave in Hearthstone hit a lot of users. After discussing this with Blizzard, it’s clear we have to take off our services/products now. Please note that we’re not going to be commenting further on this.” It’s actually interesting that they had a discussion with Blizzard.

You might recall that it was earlier this year that Blizzard had sued developers for creating a StarCraft 2 maphack which effectively ruined the game for many players. Blizzard had also once gone after the developers of a World of Warcraft bot, so we guess at the very least it would seem that Crawlerbots managed to escape relatively unscathed.
