Discontinued iPod Classic Finds New Lease Of Life On Amazon

ipod-classic-discontinuedIt seems that there is no stopping the Apple train, even for Apple devices that have already been discontinued as Apple looks to the future. The iconic iPod Classic has been around for quite some time, before the curtain finally fell upon it earlier this year. Still, who would have thought that a hard drive-equipped iPod classic would actually find a new lease of life on Amazon at a price that is pretty surprising in the first place, after taking into account the age of the device, not to mention it being a second hand item?

Being around on the market for close to 13 years, the iPod classic, the first 5GB model sold for $399 back in October 2001. Fast forward to today, and the 160GB model portable music player that is in its seventh generation is going for $490 a pop. Just how much data can you carry with 160GB of storage space? We are looking at 40,000 songs, 25,000 photos, or 200 hours of video, where a full battery is touted to deliver up to three dozen hours of music playback, or half a dozen hours of video playback.

Other primitive (by today’s standards) hardware specifications include a 2.5” color LCD display with LED backlight at 320 x 240 pixel resolution. There are also other second hand models of the iPod classic going for $250 thereabouts on Amazon if you are interested.
