Minecraft: Pocket Edition is available on popular mobile platforms, iOS and Android to be precise, it has never been released for Windows Phone but that changes today. Obviously it helps that Microsoft, the company that makes Windows Phone, purchased Mojang a few months back and promised to bring this game over. It has finally come through. Minecraft: Pocket Edition for Windows Phone is finally available.

This is the first time that this popular title has landed on Microsoft’s mobile platform so its definitely something that WP fans will enjoy, we all know they have been waiting anxiously for it.

There’s nothing different with this version, Mojang isn’t building in extra features for the WP version. Its the same version that you get on iOS and Android, and includes most of the content that one can find in the desktop and console versions of Minecraft, like Wi-Fi multiplayer, survival and creative modes.

If you were expecting Xbox Live support, think again. Minecraft: Pocket Edition for Windows Phone doesn’t have support for Xbox Live even though many might have expected it to be baked in since Microsoft would like to play favorites with its gaming platform. Perhaps it might be added at some point in the future.

Minecraft: Pocket Edition for Windows Phone costs $6.99 and is available for download now from the Windows Phone Store.
