NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet and SHIELD Portable owners are receiving a new app update today which brings some much needed improvements to the Hub app. Previously this application used to be called Tegra Zone, its connected with the gaming features of these devices. The app has been updated to version 4.0, bringing a new look and feel thanks to Material Design, apart from various bug fixes and performance improvements.

The NVIDIA SHIELD tablet has already received Android 5.0 Lollipop, so it makes sense that the Material Design update for Hub is being rolled out now. Android 5.0 brings a completely new user interface built upon the Material Design ideology, and developers have updated their applications accordingly so that they work nicely with the new software.

Improved support for streaming PC games is also included in this app update, expect better performance at 60 frames per second with up to 1080p resolution. It also promises a much more stable connection with NVIDIA GRID, the company’s service that lets you stream games, so gamers should expect better streaming performance.

Hub 4.0 retains the conventional NVIDIA green-on-grey color scheme but the Material Design elements are pretty evident throughout the app. It is live now and available for download right away from the Google Play Store.
