Among all of the IT-oriented companies studied, Samsung was the biggest spender, holding the second spot in the midst of global companies, with Volkswagen being right up there at the very top. The Strategy & Analyst company was the one behind the study, and this would mean that Samsung has occupied second place for the second year running. Intel, who happens to be one of the larger chipset manufacturers around, pulls up at third, courtesy of the $10.6 billion spent on R&D in 2014. Interestingly enough, Apple is not even spotted on the R&D spenders’ list, now how about that?
Granted, Samsung does a whole lot more than just smartphones and tablets – have you seen the various portfolios of the company that it holds in South Korea? After all, there is money to be made in different departments, too.
