The FAA, or Federal Aviation Administration in full, has in principal, agreed to work alongside CNN and the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) on a research initiative which will involve commercial drone use. This agreement could assist the FAA when it comes to working out its unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) rules, and the ultimate goal would be to figure out a framework which could eventually enable the wider use of drones when it comes to news gathering and news reporting operations.
CNN Senior Vice President David Vigilante, shared, “Our aim is to get beyond hobby-grade equipment and to establish what options are available and workable to produce high quality video journalism using various types of UAVs and camera setups.” All the best is what we can say!
