Samsung’s Smart Sunglasses Can Change Its Lens Tint And Frame Design

samsung-glasses-patent-2-640x608Different types of sunglasses go with different types of outfits, such as the frame design, the lens design, the color of the lens, and so on, unless of course you don’t really care about matching your outfits in which anything goes. However matching your outfits to your sunglasses can be expensive as it means getting multiple pairs, but Samsung wants to make your life easier.

The company has recently been awarded a patent for a pair of smart sunglasses that has the ability to change its frame and lens design. The sunglasses itself will come with a transparent display that has the ability to wrap itself around the entire frame of the glasses itself. This means that users, via a button or accompanying smartphone app, will be able to change its design on the fly.

Of course the physical design will remain the same, but if you wanted a frame with a different color, shading, or maybe even a pattern, you could do that. The wearer will also be able to adjust the brightness setting of their lens to help give it a tinted look, or maybe darken it if you don’t think that it’s blocking out the sun effectively.

It’s an interesting idea but unfortunately given that it is just a patent, there’s really no telling if Samsung has any actual plans of making the glasses a reality, but in the meantime what do you guys think? Is this a piece of wearable tech that you can get on board with?
