Dropbox Users Can Now Open Shared Links In Android And iOS Apps

Mobile users are going to like the change that Dropbox has announced today. Users of the popular cloud storage service, particularly those on Android and iOS, will now be able to open Dropbox shared links right within the apps. Previously the mobile browser had to be opened for the files to be accessed. Now tapping on the shared link will bring up the file within the app itself whether the user is accessing it through a tablet or smartphone.

This way users get good previews for documents and photos which they can easy save as a file or to a folder in their Dropbox account. If the file is already saved in the Dropbox account the app will automatically take users to it so that they can do more.

If the file belongs to a Microsoft Office application like Excel or Word tapping on the link will allow users to open and edit it in the respective Office app straightaway.

Its a small change but nonetheless an important one which will go a long way to ensure that users have an easier experience with this.

Dropbox promises that this feature will arrive for all Android and iOS users across the globe as the relevant apps gradually go live in all markets.
