Sports fans who happen to have an iPad have something to look forward today. The official ESPN for iOS app has received a new major update which not only applies a fresh coat of paint to the entire app but also finally adds native support for the iPad. This means that the ESPN iOS app will now look and feel much, much better on Apple’s tablet then it previously used to.

The app version has bumped up to 4.2 and it is optimized for the large displays of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Undoubtedly the biggest addition here is native support for Apple iPad.

A new feature called ESPN Now has been added to the app. It can be brought up by swiping right from the news section. With ESPN Now users can stay on top of social media content from the network as well as check out the photos and videos it posts.

Cricket fans will appreciate support for the Cricket World Cup, which begins in just two days, the app will provide content like video clips and live scores.

The aforementioned fresh coat of paint also brings a new brand for this app, which was previously called SportsCenter, and is now simply called ESPN.

It is available as a free download from the App Store.
