Galaxy S6 Might Come With A Touch Based Fingerprint Sensor

Samsung Galaxy S5 came with a fingerprint sensor but it was different from the one you would find on an iPhone. Users needed to swipe their finger from the top to the bottom of the home button just to get their fingerprint picked up. On the iPhone one simply needs to put their finger down on the home button for the print to be registered. The latter is obviously much easier and it looks like Samsung is going with a touch based fingerprint sensor for Galaxy S6.

It was actually reported in January that Samsung is not going to use a swipe based fingerprint sensor in the Galaxy S6 and instead its going to opt for the touch based one.

A render of the device that appeared online today courtesy of T-Mobile shows a nominally taller home button which is now being taken as an indication that the touch based fingerprint sensor has indeed been embedded in the home button.

This means that users would only need to place their finger and the print will be picked up by the Galaxy S6. The whole process will get much easier and faster.

Galaxy S6 users might use the fingerprint sensor for much more than controlling who can access the smartphone. Samsung is expected to launch its new payments service, Samsung Pay, in the near future which would also require authorization through the fingerprint sensor before payments are processed.
