AT&T Believed To Be Rolling Out Android 5.1 For Nexus 6

Carriers in the United States aren’t exactly known for being swift when it comes to software updates. Some of the carry the reputation of being extremely slow. Nexus 6 is Google’s current flagship smartphone and this time around the company has relied heavily on carriers to move this device. Would that end up delaying software updates for this smartphone? As Google begins to seed Android 5.1 to Nexus 5 several reports claim AT&T has started rolling out the same update to its Nexus 6 owners.

None of this matters to people who are going with Verizon for the Nexus 6. Big Red was quite late to the Nexus 6 party but it is going to ship them with Android 5.1 pre-installed so customers won’t have to worry about waiting for the next major Lollipop update.

According to reports AT&T has started rolling out Android 5.1 build LMY47D to Nexus 6. That’s the same build that Google has released for the Nexus 5.

Android 5.1 brings a plethora of improvements and enhancements to the overall system, apart from the usual bug fixing and stability package.

If you’re on AT&T you can trying hitting the update button in the settings app to try and force the update. When it does arrive, as OTAs do automatically, a notification will pop up on the device informing you that Android 5.1 is now available for download.
