Instagram For Android Passes The 500 Million Installation Mark

instagramInstagram without doubt is probably one of the more popular photo sharing apps available at the moment, but how popular are we talking about? According to the latest figures spotted by the folks at Android Police on the Google Play Store, it seems that the app has managed to see over 500 million installs so far.

We should note that this is only for Android so combined with iOS, we reckon that the number could be much higher. It certainly seems like Facebook made a great decision when they decided to acquire the company all those years ago. As it stands there aren’t that many apps with over 500 million installs.

One of those companies is Microsoft with its Skype app, and another would be Facebook themselves whose Messenger app and the Facebook have crossed that mark a while ago, with the latter going into the billions just on Android alone which is mighty impressive. It looks like Facebook’s involvement with Instagram has not put any users off, and we suppose the same can be said for WhatsApp.

In fact Instagram recently rolled out a new app called Layout. This allows users to create collages and uploading it onto Instagram/Facebook for sharing. While there are plenty of collage making apps out there, this is Instagram’s “official” take on it.
