iPhone 5 Sleep/Wake Button Replacement Program Extended To 2016

iphone_5_sleep_button-800x437If you’re using the iPhone 5, you might be one of the more unfortunate users to experience issues with their sleep/wake button in which it would stop being responsive. Apparently this isn’t so much a wear and tear issue but a manufacturing defect for some users which is why Apple had previously launched a replacement program to address it.

Now the good news is that if you’re experiencing issues with your iPhone 5’s sleep/wake button and were worried that you might have missed the deadline to submit your phone in for a fix, you can rest assured because according to reports, it looks like Apple has extended the sleep/wake button replacement program to 2016.

This basically means that those still hanging onto their iPhone 5 have an additional year of coverage of the service should they encounter faulty sleep/wake buttons on their phone. Interestingly enough it seems that some users have gotten more than they had originally thought as some users had their batteries replaced too.

According to a post on Reddit, “I had mine fixed through this program. They changed all the buttons and replaced my battery for free too. Once you get your phone back you can ask the guy at the apple store for the list of parts that were replaced. I think they have to replace a few things in order to get to the button.” Of course we wouldn’t count on getting a free battery but it does seem like a nice bonus.
