Amazon Prime Music might not meet the needs of serious music lovers who want a proper music streaming service. One can’t quite expect it to hold its own against Spotify. Nevertheless its a good feature to have when you’re paying $99 per annum to Amazon for a variety of services, including free two day shipping and a huge catalog of movies and TV shows. Today the Amazon Prime Music for iOS app has been updated and it now includes Prime Stations.

Prime Stations were first launched on the web a few months back. This feature is akin to Pandora. Users can listen to Prime Stations based on artists or genres.

Up till now Prime Stations could only be streamed through a web browser. Today’s update to the iOS app finally brings this feature to a mobile Prime Music app.

When a station is playing users can skip as many songs as they like. If they hear a song they like they can instantly add it to their Prime library. Stations can be given a thumbs up or thumbs down and this will have an effect on future selections.

Today’s update for the iOS app also brings a new design that’s cleaner and much more useful than before. The updated Amazon Prime Music app for iOS is live now on the App Store.
