BioCarbon Engineering believes, “We are going to counter industrial scale deforestation using industrial scale reforestation. Destruction of global forests from lumber, mining, agriculture, and urban expansion destroys 26 billion trees each year. We believe that this industrial scale deforestation is best combated using the latest automation technologies.”
This UK-based organization has come up with a system that will allow the planting of trees using drones, where it is said to be able to cost a fraction (15%) of traditional reforestation methods. Not only that, money is saved along the way to boot, since it is performed at a speed which manual planting is unable to match. In fact, up to tens of thousands of trees can be planted each day, now how about that? Their target? To plant 1 billion trees each year with such technology.
