Epidemia Clothing Line – Bridges Both Science And Art

epidemiaIt looks like we are always on the edge, looking for the next big thing. Well, Epidemia might just fit this particular niche, where it will transform biological images such as heart cells as well as neurons into a fabric that is patterned quite unlike anything that most of us would have seen before. Using this material, the company intends to churn out fitness apparel, and leggings would be launched with its Kickstarter campaign that has a $15,000 fundraising goal.

Lizzie Cochran, the creator of this fashion line, mentioned, “The inspiration for Epidemia came from studying microscopic images in my biology lab course, as well as coming across similar images in an article I read about the history of epidemics. I kept noticing how beautiful the images were.”

She hoped to place such images in a manner that will not only be commercially appealing to the younger generation, but also to help make the sciences more interesting as well as accessible to youth, targeting girls who might view science as a primarily masculine field. Perhaps this might help bridge both science and art words in order to inspire change. Do you think that such an idea will be able to take off in the long run?
