Even though Motorola has been very quick in getting the Android 5.0 Lollipop update out for some of its recent devices, first-generation Moto X, Moto E and Moto G owners have been waiting for the latest iteration of Android to arrive. We have know for a while now that the company has been testing Android 5.0.2 for these devices in several regions but today it confirmed that all of these smartphones will be updated straight to Android 5.1.

The information comes from Motorola’s David Schuster who said that the company has decided to skip the Android 5.0.x updates for the first-generation Moto X, Moto E and Moto G.

He revealed that while Android 5.0.2 tests were going on in some regions the company also started testing the recently released Android 5.1 for these first-gen handsets. Given that the new version brings a host of improvements Motorola has decided to “move all efforts” to upgrade the aforementioned handsets directly from KitKat to Lollipop 5.1.

While this is great news, we still don’t know when the update will arrive for these devices. Schuster didn’t mention on his Google+ post when Motorola will get the update ready for these devices and when it will finally be released to users around the world.
