Merely a couple of days after Motorola started things off with a soak test of this update in Brazil the company has now confirmed that Android 5.1 for 2nd-generation Moto X is finally being rolled out. Naturally the update is going to take its time to arrive for various units all across the world but Motorola has got the ball rolling now and surely 2nd-gen Moto X owners won’t have to wait for too long any more.

It is highly likely that one of the first variants to receive this update will be the Pure Edition unlocked 2nd-gen Moto X that’s available in most markets across the globe, and since it’s not tied to a carrier on anything, it’s easy to understand why it might be the first variant to receive the Android 5.1 update.

Motorola has not yet revealed when this update will arrive on handsets that are tied to carriers but changelogs show that it will certainly be released by AT&T.

Aside from bringing everything that’s included in Android 5.1 this latest update for the 2nd-gen Moto X also brings a new Moto Action, Chop twice for Flashlight.

With this Moto Action users just have to execute a normal chopping motion to quickly fire up the flashlight. Chop twice for Flashlight can be used for turning the flashlight on and off as and when required.
