Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Pegged For July Launch [Rumor]

Without fail, Samsung has launched every iteration of their Galaxy Note series of smartphones at IFA which usually takes place in the later part of the year, but could Samsung be thinking of breaking tradition with the Galaxy Note 5? Apparently they are according to new rumors which suggests that the handset might be announced in July instead.

Of course it’s not necessary for Samsung to keep launching their products at IFA, but given that it’s what they’ve been doing over the past few years, many naturally assume that the same would happen this year. However the rumors are claiming that perhaps to pre-empt Apple’s announcement of the iPhone 6s/6s Plus, Samsung is choosing to launch it earlier instead.

Apple usually launches new smartphones towards the end of Q3 around September which is also when IFA is taking place, so by announcing new Galaxy Note handsets before Apple, Samsung is probably hoping that customers will be too amazed by it and decided to go with the new Note handsets instead of the new iPhones.

So far based on what we’ve heard about the Galaxy Note 5, its hardware looks pretty impressive. The rumors are claiming it could feature a 5.9-inch 4K display (which is pretty insane). It is also rumored to pack a large 4,100mAh battery and will support microSD cards that allows memory expansion up to 256GB. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but we’ll keep an eye out for any potential announcements from Samsung down the road.
