Elephone P9000 To Arrive This October As Deca-Core Handset

elephone-p9000From a single core to a dual core, and now quad-core handsets being extremely common, where else does the world of smartphone manufacturing go? Well, it looks like deca-core would be the next step in the evolution of smartphone chipsets – and the Elephone P9000 could very well make history by being the first deca-core MT6797 Android smartphone as it is tipped to arrive some time later this coming October.

Also known as the MediaTek Helio X20 CPU, it will be a 20nm chip which will feature a pair of ARM Cortex-A72 cores that will perform all of the heavy lifting, a quartet of ARM Cortex-A53 cores that have the ability to handle medium load scenarios, another quartet of optimized Cortex-A53s that will handle all low-power states. It is more of being an energy efficient device as opposed to breaking results on benchmarks, but this does not mean that a pair of Cortex-A72 cores are lacking in terms of performance.

Targeted for a Q4 release, the Elephone P9000 from China does look as though it is going to be quite an impressive performer by the time it arrives, so we do look forward to seeing it in action then. We do wonder whether it would make its way Stateside or not.
