Samsung Running Intensive Tests On The Snapdragon 820 [Rumor]

samsung logoAccording to the rumors, Samsung is said to be considering the use of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 for its 2016 Samsung Galaxy S7. However with the alleged overheating problems of the Snapdragon 810 that apparently forced Samsung to drop it, we can understand if Samsung’s a bit skeptical about the Snapdragon 820.

So much so that according to a new report, word has it that Samsung is currently conducting some pretty intensive tests on the Snapdragon 820. Presumably this is done to ensure that there aren’t any overheating issues with the chip, or any issues at all, and with the tests being done this early, it will allow Samsung more flexibility should they decide to not use it.

That being said we can only assume that Qualcomm will have addressed whatever problems were in the Snapdragon 810 with the Snapdragon 820, which according to the company will only make its way into devices come early 2016, so if anything we suppose the Galaxy S7 would make it a good candidate.

In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but benchmarks have proven that the Exynos series used in Samsung’s 2015 flagships are pretty powerful and can hold their own, so based on that Samsung could very well keep using its Exynos lineup, but either way we guess we’ll have to wait to see if any additional details pop up.
