Sprint’s Latest Update For Galaxy S6 And S6 Edge Brings Samsung Pay

Sprint has started rolling out a new software update for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge today, the update adds a couple of new features to both handsets but the one that stands out is Samsung Pay. Samsung’s payment service will go live in the United States next month but before users can use it they need to install the software update. Sprint rolling out the update today means that by the time Samsung Pay goes live in the U.S. folks will already have the required software installed on their devices.

Samsung Pay was announced back at the Mobile World Congress 2015 in March this year, since then it has been put through several trial stages in South Korea. The service will first be going live in South Korea this month before it arrives in the United States in September. The company has plans to expand it across Europe and China by the end of this year.

Sprint’s latest software update for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge adds support for High Quality Audio with Samsung headsets and brings the live broadcasting via YouTube feature for both devices.

The update also includes the usual slew of user interface updates as well as bug fixes. It’s rolling out right now and should go live for all users across the country over the next few hours.
