Apple’s Live Photos Will Reportedly Take Up 2x The Space

iphone-6s-6s-plus-launch__20One of the features of the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus is the ability to snap Live Photos. What are Live Photos? In case you missed the announcement from a couple of days ago, Live Photos basically capture moments before and after you’ve snapped the photo, thus allow users to animate it or even record sound.

That being said with Apple still offering 16GB storage options, we’re sure some users are wondering how much space will these Live Photos take. Unfortunately Apple did not share the details but according to TechCrunch’s Matthew Panzarino in a video, it seems that the Live Photos will take up twice the amount of space compared to a regular photo.

This is apparently due to Apple’s system which apparently starts taking photos the moment the camera app has been launched. However in previous iPhones, the only phone that is stored is the one that has been taken after the shutter button is pressed. This is also how the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus will capture these Live Photos.

Now unless you take a lot of Live Photos, chances are your phone should have enough storage. Alternatively you could always back them up in the cloud or onto your computer if you find yourself running low on space. Apple has yet to confirm this but we have no reason to suspect otherwise.
