Snapdragon 810 Overheating Reportedly Solved In Xperia Z5

One of the problems with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 is that there have been many reports of it overheating. We ourselves have not encountered any of these issues during our reviews of Snapdragon 810 devices, but it seems that it was a big enough problem where Japanese carrier NTT DOCOMO had to warn users about it.

One of the affected handsets was the Xperia Z4 and with the Sony Xperia Z5 using the same chipset, many were worried that overheating would be a problem for the phone as well. As it turns out, it seems that Sony/Qualcomm has figured out a way to manage it to prevent overheating.

As you can see in the video above, it was shot by Btekt using a Sony Xperia Z5 and it was recording video at 4K resolution. Safe to say that this will require a fair amount of power and it would easily cause a device to overheat, and while they did notice the handset getting warm, they noted that it did not get as hot compared to the Xperia Z3+.

This seems to indicate that whatever overheating there was with the Snapdragon 810 and the Xperia Z4 seems to have been resolved. However like we said, not all Snapdragon 810 overheats so this could be one of them, but for now it looks promising so if you’re thinking whether or not you should pick it up, hopefully this video will convince you.
