OnePlus To Close OnePlus 2 Reservations October 22

oneplus-2-review-04If you’re thinking about getting your hands on the OnePlus 2, you will have to put your name a reservation list. Once it is your turn, you will then be sent an invite to purchase the device. Through this system, basically what OnePlus does is attempt to manage expectations as well as inventory.

However it seems that come October 22, the company will be closing its online reservation system. According to the company, the reason for closing the system is because they want to start focusing on producing enough units to meet the current demand and not to have too large of a backlog.

The company writes, “As production is ramping up, we want to ensure that as many people as possible who signed up get their invite, so we feel it’s in the best interest of our users to close the list and make sure that this happens.” As for those who have already registered their interest or who are planning to, your reservation will remain secured as long as you do so before the 22nd of October, which is next Thursday.

So what if you forgot to reserve? Does this mean you can never get the OnePlus 2? Presumably eventually the company will open up for sales but in the meantime, would-be customers can look forward to shareable invites, which are basically invites shared by those who have already purchased a OnePlus product, so if you know anyone who has, maybe you can ask them for one when they start rolling out.
