It didn’t take long for OnePlus to officially bring its smartphones to India, largely considered to be a very lucrative emerging market, therefore it’s no surprise to see many upcoming Chinese OEMs trying their luck in the Indian market. Some have even started manufacturing devices in the country to better cater to demand and now OnePlus is doing just that, the company confirmed today that it will start manufacturing smartphones in India before the end of this year.

Production will take place at Foxconn’s Rising Stars factory located inside the Sri City Integrated Business City in the Andhra Pradesh state.

OnePlus will start local production of its upcoming devices in India before the end of this year, production will take place at a 30,000 square feet facility that will have a cumulative peak production capacity of 500,000 units per month and will generate employment for some 1000 workers.

The company expects to have the first batch of locally produced OnePlus smartphones ready for the market before the end of this year. OnePlus further says that local production will enable the company to sell its devices faster in India as opposed to the past where potential customers had to keep waiting for longer periods of time, which will no doubt be good for its business.
