This R2-D2 Mini Fridge Is The Droid You’re Looking For

There are tons of Star Wars related merchandise and memorabilia available for purchase at the moment, and we expect that with the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens at the end of the year, there will be even more options that fans can choose from. Now if you’re a huge fan of the franchise, you might be interested to learn that over in Japan, there is an R2-D2 mini fridge that you can pre-order.

As reported by Engadget Japan (via Engadget), the mini fridge was recently unveiled by the folks at Haier Asia in Japan. For the most part the fridge isn’t anything too special and will basically help chill your drinks, food, and snacks. However as you can see in the video above, the fact that it is shaped like R2-D2 makes it a novelty.

In fact the design isn’t just a shell. The R2-D2 mini fridge can actually move its head and flash its lights. It can even move (presumably via remote control), meaning that you don’t even have to get up from your couch while watching Star Wars re-runs to get an ice cold beer. Granted it won’t project holograms from princesses asking to be saved, but we reckon it’s good enough.

Unfortunately it will be pretty damn expensive at $9,000. Yup, you read that right, and because it is only available in Japan, getting it imported will cost you a lot more. However if you have the cash to spare, it is available for pre-order although it seems that you will need an address in Japan.
