Vuzix iWearHD Ready For Pre-Order

vuzix-iwearhd-1[CEATEC 2015] Vuzix, a name that has been associated with video eyewear for the longest time, has shown off their iWearHD video headphones on the showfloor, citing that it is available for pre-order at the moment fro 60,000 Yen before taxes. This video headset had already picked up its fair share of accolades earlier in the year and it is nice to see that it is finally up for pre-order over in Japan. Putting it on, it felt comfortable enough – even though I was wearing my pair of glasses whose rims are not the thinnest in the world. There was no audio input in the demo set though, since it was nothing but a still photo of a couple celebrating with a birthday cake on the table.

The iWearHD video headphones are supposed to deliver a 125” home theater screen right in front of you from a virtual 10-feet distance, where it plays nice with HDMI inputs that are compatible with the latest 3D and 2D modes in the market, which means you can connect it to the likes of smartphones, tablets, consoles, PCs, and even 3D Blu-ray players. There is also a 57-degree field of vision and a 16:9 aspect ratio to it, making sure that your eyes end up as happy customers at the end of the day.

Overall the video headset does feel a little bit bulky – and your ears will get warm after a few hours wearing it, based on my experience of headphones in the past that relied on the same kind of cushion material to keep it in place. I suppose if you would like to up the ante in gaming, then the iWearHD would make for a perfect fit, but otherwise you might want to save yourself $600 in the process.
